Bristol Shows Its Colors
The Bristol Historical Society is collaborating with the American Clock and Watch Museum, the Carousel Museum of New England, the Imagine Nation Museum and the Indian Rock and Barnes Nature Centers to sponsor “Bristol Shows Its Colors” a patriotic salute to our veterans past and present. We are being joined by the neighborhood associations from the Federal Hill, Forestville and the West End, as well as, the Bristol Veterans Council and Army Strong Community Center. The Central Connecticut Chamber of Commerce will assist in marketing this program throughout the community

We are asking that homeowners, neighborhoods, businesses, churches and organizations decorated their homes or buildings with red, white and blue colors. These can be flags, bunting, ribbons, wreathes, lights or any other style patriotic displays. Decorating in this manner would show our city’s appreciation and commitment to those who have served or who are presently serving. Programming is also being developed at each of the museums to commemorate the patriotic theme. This event is schedule to run from Memorial Day through the Fourth of July, so there is time to become involved. Tom Angels a member of BHS developed the concept. It was then shared with the Museum Directors Collaborative. It is hoped that this activity will become an annual event within our city.

The Bristol Historical Society plans to decorate our building. If you would like to assist us in this project please mail a small check of five or ten dollars to P.O. Box 1393 and mark the memo line “flags or patriotism”. This way we will not have to secure funds from our working budget. Thank you ahead of time and please consider decorating your own home or business.
