Join Main Street Community Foundation’s Women & Girls Fund for the 22nd Annual Wonder of Women (WOW) event on May 2nd. WOW is an annual event whose proceeds support grants for programs that make it possible for women and girls in Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington, and Wolcott to improve the conditions and opportunities in their lives. Because of the community’s generosity and support of WOW, MSCF has awarded over $718,000 in grants and immediate response funds from the Women & Girls Fund since its establishment in 2001 as a community-based endowment.

Not only will the event feature stories from grantees on the work they have been able to do for the communities with grant support from MSCF’s Women & Girls Fund, the guest speaker this year will be comedian Christine O'Leary. The WOW event will be held on May 2, 2023, at 5:30p.m. at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville. Seats are $65 per person and can be purchased today by sending payment via check to Main Street Community Foundation, P.O. Box 2702, Bristol, CT 06010.

According to Christine, she is a self-proclaimed ‘Joy Junkie’, whose mission is to make a difference and make you laugh until you cry. She is an award-winning stand-up comedian, stand-up comedy workshop teacher, comedy mentor, corporate comedy coach, producer, host, personality, influencer, undercover roaster, keynote and philanthropic auctioneer. Often referred to as a “comedian's comedienne”, Christine takes immense pride in being known as the host that “can make a show out of anything” and “get the funny out of anyone”. She has worked with the top comedians in the business, including Gilbert Gottfried, Joy Behar, Chevy Chase, Sinbad, Tracy Morgan, Janeane Garofalo, JB Smoove, Margaret Cho, Maria Bamford and was hired as the first women ever to host a fundraising event for the CIA (yes, that CIA).
