The Bristol Tramps Sports Reunion is an organization that recognizes local athletes, coaches, teams, and supporters of athletics in Bristol. It all started in 1970 with Julie Larese whose love for Bristol and sports established this organization to recognize local sports figures. Julie was a philanthropist, humanitarian, and friend who gave his all to those around him and to the City of Bristol. He was known as “the big guy” who, although he looked like a giant, had a heart of gold. Scholarships in Julie’s name have been awarded to graduating high school seniors for years, and the fund was transferred to Main Street Community Foundation in 2022. Scholarship awards will continue to support graduating seniors from high schools located in Bristol who display all of the character traits of a good citizen, are involved in school activities of any kind, demonstrate solid academic performance, and are successful athletes who have earned a minimum of two varsity letters and two All-Conference awards.
