Support Local Causes
December 31, 2015 - The Burlington Community Fund recently awarded three grants that will inspire, affect and support residents of all ages living in Burlington.
Formerly known as the Burlington Bell Community Fund, the Burlington Community Fund awarded grants to organizations serving the Burlington community through its fall Competitive Grant Cycle.
Grants were awarded to the following organizations for the purposes described:
- Arts for Learning Connecticut – Family Literacy Nights at Burlington Public Library. Master storytellers will engage families with presentations of multi-cultural folktales from around the world.
- Malerbo Volleyball Court Fund at Main Street Community Foundation – Purchase of volleyball equipment to support the new sand volleyball court at the Malerbo Recreation Complex in Burlington. The sand volleyball court is open to the public, as well as local teams and clubs, and gives Burlington residents another opportunity to stay active.
- Regional School District #10 – Lewis S. Mills High School Book Club. Four to five copies of each book will be bought to circulate amongst Book Club members, which include students, faculty and administration.
“We are proud to support these programs thanks to the donors that have built the Burlington Community Fund,” said Susan Sadecki, President & CEO of the Community Foundation. “These grants will increase literacy throughout the community and will keep residents active while bringing them together.”
Earlier in 2015, the Burlington Community Fund also awarded a grant to the Burlington Parks and Recreation Department to support recreational activities for those in need.
