Main Street Community Foundation is proud to award a $1,000 grant from the Myra Boccardi Desroches Advancing Young Minds Fund to the Bristol Child Development Center. This grant will provide books for the Little Chef program.

The Myra Boccardi Desroches Advancing Young Minds Fund was established at MSCF in 2022 by Myra’s family to honor her life and her passion for teaching and literacy. The Fund’s advisors, Michael Desroches and Rebecca Boccardi Zappone, Myra’s husband and sister respectively, support the Fund’s mission by recommending grants to organizations that provide literacy services and resources needed to make literature more accessible to young minds.

Bristol Child Development Center’s Little Chef program is a hands-on culinary and gardening experience for children and their families where they gain cooking and gardening skills as well as learn nutritional recipes with local produce. This grant will allow the Center to purchase related books for the program to expand their library and enhance the learning experience for the students.
