Wonder of Women (WOW) Event to Feature Scot Haney and Irene O'Connor of WFSB Channel 3
March 13, 2015 - The 14th Annual Wonder of Women (WOW) event, held by by the Women & Girls’ Fund at Main Street Community Foundation, will be Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at 5:30 p.m. at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, CT. The event will feature WFSB Channel 3 television personalities Scot Haney and Irene O’Connor as guest speakers.
The WOW event is a fundraiser to benefit the Fund’s annual grant cycle. In 2014, proceeds from the WOW event supported over $36,000 in grants to 12 local organizations serving women and girls in Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington and Wolcott.
“This event provides the opportunity for the Fund to do what it does – improve the conditions and opportunities for women and girls in our communities,” stated Cathy Cassin, the WOW Event Chair. “And it’s a wonderful evening – networking with hundreds of like-minded individuals, a silent auction with an assortment of items and inspiring speakers.”
The guest speakers are Scot Haney and Irene O’Connor of WFSB Channel 3. Scot Haney, an acclaimed meteorologist, is on Eyewitness News This Morning and co-hosts Better Connecticut every weekday. Irene O’Connor, an award-winning journalist, anchors Eyewitness News This Morning on Channel 3. Both are active supporters of their communities and various charitable causes.
Seats for this year’s event are $55 and are now available. The WOW event is sponsored by Barnes Group Foundation and MassMutual, as Premier Sponsors;KPMG LLP, as a Presenting Sponsor; and several others businesses, organizations and individuals whose contributions are most appreciated.
