Terryville Plymouth Little League Awarded Grant to Improve Fields

September 15, 2017 - Terryville Plymouth Little League was recently awarded a $1,500 grant from the Bristol Savings Bank Fund at Main Street Community Foundation to support the repair and replacement of outfield fences at two of the fields.

“Over the last few years, league members identified that the outfield fences at Janser Field and Worhunsky Field needed to be repaired to ensure that players are kept safe as well as family and community members who watch the games,” stated Sarah Bird, a volunteer with the Terryville Plymouth Little League. “The old fences will be removed and disposed of and new concrete footings, posts and chain link fences will be added. Also, a yellow safety cap will be installed.”

About 140 Plymouth children participate in little league. Sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage and respect for others are ideals that are promoted through participation in the Terryville Plymouth Little League.

“This project is a top priority for the League and grants and donations for it were sought to alleviate the costs,” said Sarah Bird. “The grant from Main Street Community Foundation will have a great impact on the project and the community.”

The outfield fences at Janser Field and Worhunsky Field are expected to be repaired and replaced by March 2018, before the spring Little League begins.

The grant was awarded during a small ceremony at the Little League Complex.
