This scholarship was established in 2000 by four siblings from the Burns family of Bristol. These siblings – Gerry, Larry, Patricia and Charley – created this scholarship to say thank you to the St. Joseph community for the great start in life that they received.This fund assists student-athletes from St. Joseph School who wish to attend St. Paul Catholic High School in Bristol.

This fund was established in 2013 from a bequest by Al and Joan Monico, both longtime Bristol residents. An annual scholarship will be awarded to a Bristol resident pursuing post-secondary education.
Established in the mid-1980’s through a bequest from the estate of retired Bristol teacher Alice Pulsifer, this fund was transferred to the Community Foundation in 1997. A scholarship is provided annually to assist graduating seniors or graduates of the three Bristol high schools interested in English or related studies.
This scholarship fund was established in memory of Alicia Mary Butler, who passed away in June 2021. Alicia was born and raised in Bristol, a graduate of St. Paul Catholic High School, and was a lifelong educator. She lived a life full of love, compassion, meaning and purpose. In her career as a teacher and school psychologist in the Cromwell Public Schools and at The Foundation School in Orange, she was a dedicated, devoted champion of special needs children. In addition to her love of family, friends and her students, she had a soft spot for abandoned/neglected animals.
This fund was established by the family and friends of Murielle Giacomini following her passing in 2003 after a courageous battle with cancer. The fund was renamed in 2009 in memory of Murielle’s husband. The scholarship will support women graduates of Bristol Central High in need of help to further their education. Special consideration will be given to female athletes who have played softball during their years at Bristol Central.
Established in 2015, this scholarship fund honors the memory of Anthony Norton who passed away in June 2015 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Anthony’s 15-year career as a teacher and coach led him to his most recent position as a seventh and eighth grade science teacher at the Eli Terry Jr. Middle School in Terryville. A scholarship will be awarded annually to a Terryville High School graduating senior pursuing post secondary education at a two-year or four-year college with a major in education or science.
Established in 2000 as a bequest from retired Bristol teacher Azilda Hebert and a generous donation from retired teachers Louis and Louise DiMeo to assist two students per year, one from each public high school in Bristol, who wish to pursue post-secondary music education.
This permanent scholarship fund was established in 2008 by retired banking executive and long-time community volunteer Bryan P. Bowerman. Mr. Bowerman, an alum of Bristol Eastern High School established this fund to award a scholarship annually to a graduating high school senior from Bristol Eastern High School accepted at the University of Connecticut with a preference given to students accepted at the School of Business.
Brenda J. Tella, a lifelong Plainville resident, established this scholarship fund to support families who are parishioners at Our Lady of Mercy Church (OLMC) in Plainville. Scholarships will be awarded to students from families who are parishioners in good standing at OLMC to assist with the costs of Catholic education at an elementary, middle or high school located in CT. If there are no applicants from OLMC, applications may be considered from students who reside in Plainville, CT and wish to attend a Catholic elementary, middle or high school located in CT.
This permanent scholarship fund was transferred to the Main Street Community Foundation in early 2008. This fund honors the memory of F. Fred Soliani a long-time community volunteer and leader of the School-to-Business Partnership and mentoring program which began in 1989 in the Bristol Public Schools. This fund provides scholarships to graduating seniors from Bristol Central and Bristol Eastern High Schools who demonstrate scholastic achievement, potential for success in a chosen field, outstanding character and citizenship and a commitment of service to school and community.
This fund was established by the Bristol Lions Club in 2022 with a bequest previously received from the estate of Mark M. Keating. This scholarship honors of the memory of Mr. Keating’s father, James J. Keating. A scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduating senior from Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington or Wolcott who is classified as legally blind or visually impaired as defined by the Connecticut General Statutes Section 10-294a. The student must be pursuing undergraduate studies at an accredited college or university.
The Bristol Police Union established this scholarship in 1999 to support students pursuing a career in local, state or federal law enforcement, judicial systems or related criminal justice fields.
Started in 1999 by the Bristol Yale Club to provide scholarships to high school students in the towns served by Main Street Community Foundation. The scholarship is available to students who need help with post-secondary education expenses including college, university, community and technical college, trade school, adult education courses and other similar educational experiences.
The Miles Peck Jennings Memorial Fund was transferred to Main Street Community Foundation by the Bristol Yale Club in December 2021 and renamed the Bristol Yale/Miles Peck Jennings Memorial Scholarship Fund. Historically this fund has provided many thousands of dollars to Yale University for undergraduate students and thousands more for graduate students. Now, this scholarship will be awarded annually to graduating seniors or graduates of public, private or parochial secondary schools located in Bristol, Burlington, Plainville or Plymouth.
Established in 2000 by the Burlington Lions Club to provide scholarships for local residents.
Chester “Chet” Henry Ozga, a longtime resident of Wolcott who was born and raised in Terryville and graduated from Terryville High School, lived his life quietly. He was married to his wife Darlene for over 20 years before she passed away in 1999, and prior to his retirement he was employed by White Oak Corp as a truck driver. Chet had a giving heart, and one way he chose to give back to his community is one of the simplest yet one of the most important – he left a bequest in his will to Main Street Community Foundation.
Transferred to the Community Foundation from Terryville High School in 2003, this fund provides assistance to a senior planning to attend college who is interested in pursuing a career in education.
Established in 2006 through a bequest from the estate of Christian Arndt to support scholarships for Terryville High School students who show academic promise, particularly in the area of science. Born in Germany in 1953, Christian and his family lived for many years in Terryville, where he pursued a wide variety of interests and went on to pursue a successful engineering career.
Created in 1976 by teachers at Bristol Eastern High School to honor the memory of Clement J. Roy, this fund was transferred to the Community Foundation in 2012. Clement was a former teacher and coach at Bristol Eastern High School, and this scholarship will provide assistance to a graduating high school senior from Bristol Eastern who has demonstrated high academic achievement as well as participation in the athletic/sports field and is pursing post-secondary education.
This scholarship fund was established in 2024 in memory of Philip “Randy” Doucette by his family. “Coach” as he was affectionately known, was highly accomplished with the Plainville High School (PHS) swim team where he earned the CIAC Connecticut Boys Swimming Coach of the Year in 2009, and was later inducted into the Plainville High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.
